Yoga is a 5000-year-old science of health and vitality.

At Beyond Breathing Space we teach Yoga as a medium to extend the busy mind and lifestyle beyond today’s hustle and bustle.

Whether you work or are at home, have children or don’t, have injuries or illnesses that need specific assistance, you are well or aspiring to be well, yoga has something to offer you that works to improve your mind, body and spirit.

At Beyond Breathing Space we offer two complimentary schools of yoga.

SATYANANDA YOGA as taught in the traditional Satyananda style, offers the practitioner a class that includes relaxation, asanas or postures, pranayama or breath practice and either deeper relaxation or meditation suitable for the class participants. Satyananda yoga seeks to increase our awareness, our capacity to be our full potential and to be of benefit to the greater good of all.

DRU YOGA, which is taught in a gentle flowing style, assists us to release our creativity, to express our loving heart and to enhance our connection with the earth. Dru offers us opportunities to follow the teachings of Mahatma Ghandi and his work for world peace

Both schools of yoga assist the practitioner to be more well, physically, emotionally mentally and spiritually. Yoga can work in conjunction with your own spiritual beliefs or practices and to assist you in becoming deeper in your own spiritual practices.

Both schools of yoga bring to the practitioner a sense of awareness and a vitalised capacity to tackle the small and large events of the day.

As well as keeping the body in tune and regular, fit and supple, yoga assists our mind with providing mental strategies on how to deal most effectively with this new millennium.

The thing to remember about Yoga is that if you do the yoga it works, it can’t work if it isn’t practised.

At Beyond Breathing Space we are always welcoming of new students and students from other traditions.

People are able to start anywhere in the term because we are aware that in Alice Springs there is a high turnover of population, many visitors to the center and bush or shift workers. We would like all these groups of people to feel welcome to come to yoga class.

The focus of the teaching is that it is taught a way that the yoga learned can form a base to ones own practice or that it provides skills and tools adaptable to ones own life.

Both the schools of yoga taught really focus on teaching awareness and assisting the practitioner to be the best of who they can be.

The philosophy of Beyond Breathing Space is to teach people the skills and provide them with the knowledge along with the opportunities to be able to live beyond the ‘short breath’ thinking in today’s world. To be able to transcend the fears and worries taught as normality and to create/live a life of greater balance physically, emotionally and mentally.

When coming to class wear comfortable clothes. Do not have a big meal up to three hours before class. Please discuss any medical concerns you might have with your teacher prior to class.
